  • On 1/1/2000 SHVFD responded to a grass fire in the 2500 block of Mcknight road at around midnight. The grass fire was caused by an aerial firework. There were no outstanding remarks.

    On 01/03 SHVFD Responded to a Brush fire started by an open fire during a burn ban in the 100 block of High Point Ridge. The fire burned approximately 2 acres of grass and trees. Seguin Brush 1 responded but was canceled upon their arrival due to not being needed.

    On 1/10 SHVFD Responded to the 900 block of Foxtrotter road for a grass/brush fire. Mutual aid agencies were called to assist due to the size of the fire. One remark was made: 5720 had a leaking tank, and the pumps pull cord had broken during operations.

    On 1/30 SHVFD responded to the 8000 block of FM 466 for a Controlled burn started by a rancher that got out of control after winds were shifting. The fire was extinguished by SHVFD, and few remarks were made in the report. 5720s’ hose reel was rendered inoperable during the fire, as well as a damaged tire, and one firefighter had burned overalls.

  • On 2/8 SHVFD was requested by longhorn VFD to assist in extinguishing a grass fire on Hickory Dr. Once on scene units assisted in the extinguishment, but 5720 required a hose reel motor rebuild and install due to actions taken on scene.

    On 2/13, SHVF was dispatched for a grass fire On Vivroux Ranch Rd that burned a total of 15 Acres. Units extinguished the fire and the only remark was the radio in 5720 needed its radio output checked.

    On 2/16 SHVFD was dispatched to Resort Lane at Nockenut road, for a large Brush Fire, Units worked all day to extinguish the blaze. Seguin FD, Kingsbury VFD, and Longhorn VFD, all responded to assist.

    On 2/26 SHVFD responded for a large brush fire in the 700 block of Sawlog Creek Rd. Mutual Aid was called and received from Mcqueeney VFD, and Kingsbury VFD. Firefighters worked for 3 hours and brought the blaze to a swift end.

  • On 3/30 SHVFD Units responded for a Brush fire in the 800 Block of Red Rd. Upon arriving on scene they found that a burn pile of building materials had spread and caught a field on fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire totalling 4 acres. It is reported that only two firefighters responded and extinguished the fire.

  • On 4/22 SHVFD was dispatched for a possible large fire in the area of Zion Hill Rd, and South State Hwy 123. During the units investigation they found a large controlled burn that was not reported to dispatch. Since the fire was still going after dark, Units on scene extinguished the fire. Seguin FD responded to assist due to the size of the fire. It was also found that 5722 needed to be checked for excessive current being drawn away from the headlight circuit.

    On 4/26 SHVFD Responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Zion Hill Rd and McKnight Road. Upon arrival firefighters found all occupants walking, and 1 vehicle on fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and all occupants survived.

  • In the afternoon of 7/19 SHVFD was dispatched to assist the Seguin Fire department with a structure fire. SHVFD was requested to send a brush truck and tanker to the scene to assist in extinguishment operations. SHVFD Firefighters were on scene for 5 hours assisting Seguin Fire Department with operations. While on scene it was found that 5732 was leaking water from the pump that was possibly due to the internal pump mounting bolts being loose.

    On 7/20 SHVFD responded for a brush fire in the 12000 block of FM 1117. While on scene Personnel requested a brush truck from Nixon Fire Department, and a Tanker from Seguin Fire Department. Firefighters were on scene for almost two hours extinguishing. It is unknown as to the actions on scene because the paper report was lost over time.

    At around 13:00 on 7/31 SHVFD was dispatched for a structure fire at 690 Tower Rd. While en route units were advised that it was a. Open storage barn. Firefighters battled the blaze for over 5 hours until the fire was extinguished. The Firefighter completing the report, remarked that the barn was TOTAL DESTRUCTION.

  • On 8/11 SHVFD were requested to assist Seguin FD with several brush fires on FM 466 near the Guadalupe River Bridge. Firefighters were on scene for several hours chasing spot fires and extinguishing them. While on scene it was found that Brush 5723 Power steering pump was no longer operational.

    On 8/17 SHVFD was dispatched for a Brush fire in the 7500 block of Nockenut road. Upon arrival firefighters found a large rapidly growing fire, and requested assistance from Seguin FD, Longhorn FD, Nixon FD, and Guadalupe County R&B. Firefighters operated on scene for over 6 hours and it was found that a total of 40-50 acres were lost in the blaze. The fire was started by fence welding operations.

  • SHVFD was requested to assist Seguin FD on 9/6 for a Large fire near Land Ranch Rd and South SH 123. 50 acres, 2 structures, 2 tractors, and several other pieces of farm equipment were lost in the blaze. Several agencies were involved including Seguin FD, Sand Hills VFD, New Berlin VFD, McQeeney VFD, and Geronimo VFD. During Operations, Brush 5720 busted its transmission line and had to be towed back and was quickly repaired after the fire.

  • On 12/18 SHVFD was dispatched for an unattended controlled burn that had gotten out of control in the 8000 Block of FM 1117. Seguin FD was requested to assist in extinguishing the fire, responding with Brush 1. The fire grew to a total size of 10 Acres until firefighters were able to make a good stop. Brush 5722s’ right mirror was damaged during operations.
