On 1/2 SHVFD was dispatched for a structure fire in the 3300 block of Hickory Forrest Dr. Units responded and arrived on location to find a garage with a vehicle fully involved spreading to the residence. Firefighters were able to get a good stop on the fire and stopped it from spreading to the rest of the house. A tanker was called to assist from an unknown department. Firefighters spent close to 6 hours on scene extinguishing the fire and searching for hotspots. 1 bedroom, the garage and a vehicle were a total loss.

SHVFD was dispatched to a structure fire near Parkcreek Dr at around 1800. Upon arrival it was found that two single-wide mobile homes were ablaze. The structures were almost fully engulfed and it was decided to allow them to burn while making sure there was no fire spread. Seguin FD was requested to assist with a tanker. Firefighters finished operations and cleared at around 2130.

On 3/25 Sand Hills VFD responded to the 5400 Block for a report of a Brush Fire. While en route Seguin FD was requested to assist with a brush truck. Upon arrival firefighters began extinguishing the fire. In total 5 acres were estimated to be burned by the time it was controlled.

On 6/26 SHVFD was dispatched for a possible fire in the area of Muehl Rd, and Buckeye. Upon arrival firefighters found a wood framed residence almost completely engulfed, and starting to collapse. Seguin FD was requested to assist with a tanker. It was decided to allow the structure to burn as it was unsafe to be too close.

On 8/19 Right as dawn was breaking SHVFD was dispatched for two Propane tanks that were installed onto a Travel Trailer, off gassing and flaring onto the structure. Units arrived on location to find that most of the travel trailer was engulfed and started extinguishing. Units finished putting out the fire and cleared the scene.

Sand Hills VFD was dispatched for an unauthorized burn that got out of control on 8/25, around the 900 block of Swallows Lane. Firefighters rushed to the scene and were able to contain the fire to a total of five acres.

On 9/13 SHVFD was dispatched for a vehicle on fire in the 10000 block of FM 466. Firefighters responded and worked on extinguishing the fire.stopping the fire primarily in the engine compartment with some extension into the cab. Luckily no one was in the vehicle at the time of the blaze.

8 days later on 09/21 SHVFD responded to a dispatch of another vehicle on fire. Firefighters arrived in the 100 block of Sandstone Lane to find a Ford Pickup ablaze. Firefighters knocked down the fire and worked to find all hotspots. It was determined than the engine had overheated and caused the blaze.

Another pickup truck caught ablaze in the 800 block of Zion Hill Rd, in the early hours of 09/25. Firefighters Responded and quickly extinguished the blaze. Unfortunately the truck was a total loss, but no injuries were reported.

On 12/28 Firefighters from SHVFD were dispatched for a possible grass fire in the 1100 block of Tower Rd. Firefighters responded and arrived on location to find that a control burn had gotten out of control. Firefighters quickly got to work and started extinguishing the blaze. They were able to contain the fire to 2 acres, stopping any further progression. No injuries were reported, but during the fight Brush 5722s’ 4wd Shifter was rendered inoperable.

On the second day of the new year, at around noon, SHVFD was dispatched to the 9500 Block of FM 1117 for a reported structure fire. When firefighters arrived on scene they found a two story wooden residence ablaze. Firefighters quickly worked to start extinguishment and called for assistance. Longhorn VFD and Seguin FD responded to assist. Firefighters stayed on location for over 7 hours completely extinguishing the fire.

1/5 resulted in a strange fire for SHVFD firefighters. Firefighters were dispatched for a round hay bale on fire, with no one around. The blazing haybale was found at Halm Rd, and FM 466. It was unknown who the owner was, as no one was around. Firefighters extinguished the round bale and found that it had possibly been ignited by a bolt of lightning.

In the early morning hours of 2/10 SHVFD firefighters responded for reports of a vehicle fire around Vivroux Ranch Rd, and FM 466. Upon arrival firefighters found a fully engulfed vehicle. Firefighters quickly extinguish the vehicle but unfortunately it was a total loss.

On 3/12 SHVFD was dispatched for an Controlled burn that became uncontrolled due to high winds. The fire was reported around the 1600 block of Hickory Forrest Drive. Firefighters responded quickly and managed to control the fire to 1.5 acres.

Three days later SHVFD Firefighters responded to another controlled by that was fanned by the wind and quickly spread. Firefighters responded to the 100 block of Marrou Rd and got to work. FIrefighters were able to contain the fire to 2.5 acres and worked to find and extinguish hotspots.

The next day on 3/16, in the 800 block of McKnight Rd, Firefighters were dispatched for another brush fire. SHVFD Firefighters arrived on location and quickly contained the fire. It was determined that the fire was possibly caused by a hot object ejected from a vehicle.

On the 28th SHVFD firefighters were dispatched for a reported structure fire in the 100 block of Angel Ln. Firefighters arrived on location to find a mobile home that was almost fully engulfed. While firefighters worked on extinguishment, Seguin FD was called to assist. Once the fire was controlled and extinguished, it was found that it may have been an electrical problem that caused the blaze. Unfortunately the residence was a total loss.

SHVFD Firefighters were dispatched to the 200 block of Agape Lane for a report structure fire on the afternoon of May 9th. Upon arriving on scene they fire a single wide mobile on fire that was rapidly growning. Multiple agencies were called for additional assistance including Seguin FD, Longhorn VFD, New Berlin VFD, and Kingsbury VFD. A total of 21 firefighters with 6 Apparatus, operated on scene for two hours until the blaze was extinguished. Unfortunately the residence was deemed a total loss due to the extensive fire damage.

May 27th Kingsbury VFD requested assistance from SHVFD for a structure fire in the 900 block of Savage Ranch Road. SHVFD Responded to the request with a brush truck and a tanker. SHVFD Personnel assisted in water supply and extinguishment of the fire.

On June 22nd SHVFD Firefighters were dispatch for a grass fire in the vicinity of FM 466 and 1117. Upon arrival firefighters found a rapidly grown brush fire and requested assistance from Seguin FD and Longhorn VFD to control the blaze. Firefighter contained the fire and extinguished hotspots. 10 acres was ultimately lost once the fire was contained. 1 SHVFD firefighter was minorly injured and treated on scene. It is believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette.

On 7/4 SHVFD Firefighters assisted local emergency management officials in contacting area residents concerning flooding and evacuations. Multiple units were sent all over the county notifying the citizens of the county. Sand Hills units went as far as Lake Dunlap to notify people.

On the 19th of August, SHVFD was dispatched for a possible structure fire. The first unit on scene found a single wide mobile home that fully engulfed. Additional firefighters arrived on scene and fight ensued to contain the fire. At the end firefighters were able to contain the fire to the structure but unfortunately it was a total loss.

5 days later on the 24th firefighters were dispatched for a electrical line down that had created a grass fire. Firefighters arrived on location and noticed that the electrical line was still active. Firefighters waited for GVEC to arrive on scene due to safety concerns. Once power was shut down firefighters got to work and contained the fire to .5 acres.

On 9/2 SHVFD firefighters were dispatched for a grass fire in the 3700 block of Zion Hill road. Firefighters arrived on scene and started extinguishing the blaze. While working on the scene it was found that an additional fire had started in the 4500 block and firefighters called for additional units. Multiple apparatus and firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. The fire was suspected to be started by a vehicle dragging chains from a trailer.

On the 3rd of February SHVFD firefighters were dispatched for a possible structure fire in the 100 block of Angel Lane. Firefighters responded and the first on scene found a wood framed residential structure with fire on the front porch. Firefighters started extinguishing the fire and manage to save part of the residence. An estimated 6 rooms had damage. Seguin FD was also on scene to assist with operations.

3/16 Firefighters were dispatched to a brush fire at 1117 and Red Rd. Firefighters responded and found a large fast moving brushfire. Firefighters managed to contain and extinguish the fire around 25 to 30 acres.

On 3/19 SHVFD firefighters were dispatched for a brush fire in the 300 block of Mesa Trail. Firefighters arrived on location and found a brush fire that started from 4 burn piles. Firefighters managed to contain the fire at 3 acres. Firefighters applied foam and water around the perimeter of the fire and extinguished interior hotspots.

The 30th of March resulted in another grass fire for SHVFD. The fire was reported in the area of Mcknight and Pleasant Acres. Multiple firefighter responded and were on scene for approximately an hour controlling the fire to .5 acres.

On June 1st a grass fire was reported in the 8100 block of FM 1117. Firefighters responded and found 1 acre on fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and found the cause to be electrical.

6/8 resulted in a 2 acre grass fire for SHVFD. The fire was called in around the 1800 block of Zion Hill Rd, and was a controlled burn that got loose. Firefighters responded and was able to contain the fire to 2 acres with no loss of life or buildings.
