Engine 5717

The current Engine 5717 is a 2006 Pierce Contender, Capable of carrying 1000 gallons of water, and a GPM of 1500 gallons per minute. The department obtained this engine after the previous Engine 17 was unfortunately lost in a rollover accident in December of 2019. Engine 17 is the first out engine on all structure fires and vehicle accidents, and is second out for brush fires and medical emergency.

Tender 5731

Tender 5731 or “Tender 31”, was custom built for SHVFD in 2006. 31 is a 2004 Kenworth with a Hale pump and custom tank capable of carrying 3000 gallons of water. 31 is a first out apparatus for structure and grass/brush fires. You may notice in the pictures that she is marked with 5730 on the sides, but she will always be known as 31. Many of the other area departments will request a Tender from SHVFD due to the amount of water it can hold. I’ve once heard that it was capable of pumping Seguin FDs Ladder truck without SFD truck having to pump.

Brush 5725

Brush 5725 is a 2016 Dodge 4500, that was custom built by General Truck and Body. This is SHVFDs primary Brush truck due to its ability to move through the beach-like sand with ease. Brush 5725 holds 350 gallons of water with 2 whip lines and 1 hose reel. The truck also has a front water turret and side ground sweeps.

Rescue 5722

Rescue 5722 was custom built for SHVFD off of a 2016 5500 Chassis and pre-built poly-tank and bed. It was initially SHVFDs primary brush truck until 5725 came along. Since then it is the primary rescue and first response truck but is also still capable of fighting fires. This truck carries a wide variety of equipment such as extrication tools, rope and swift water rescue gear, and medical equipment. It is the primary truck out on all medicals and MVAs. (side note- In my earlier years I spent a lot of time in this truck while I was working on my bachelors degree, creating quite the bond with it.)
